Horoboros (ホロボロス,   Horoborosu) is a canine kaiju that first appeared in episode ten of the 2018 television series Ultraman R/B.

Name[]

The name of Horoboros could likely come from Horobosu (滅ぼす,   Horobosu, lit. destroy) and Ouroboros (ウロボロス,   Uroborosu). Metsuboros' name has the "Horo (ホロ)" in Horoboros replaced with "Metsu (メツ)," which is also diverted from the alternate onyomi kanji for "Horo," "滅."

Horoboros against Z in Ultraman Z

Many years ago, in Shishigaoka, Yuka Ota's great-grandmother told her legends of an ancient monster called Horoboros. This monster would awake every 333 years, which would coincide with sunspots appearing on the sun. Once awakened, Horoboros would cause destruction and chaos. The ancients had mysteriously managed to pacify the monster back to sleep. With the child being very curious, Yuka snuck out into the forest during the night and discovered a monster. Once the monster disappeared, Yuka returned home to tell her family of her encounter with the monster. Nobody believed her, except for her great-grandmother, who told her it must of been Horoboros.

In the present day, Yuka lectured the STORAGE members about how it was the 333rd year and how the monster of legends Horoboros was about to reawaken on that day. Yuka then took Haruki Natsukawa to Shishigaoka to find more information about how to stop the monster from causing destruction to the land. After telling Haruki how she had seen Horoboros as a child, she found a conch shell in the ground and took it with them. While Haruki was struggling with carrying all the equipment and Yuka was searching for more information on Horoboros, the sunspots began to appear on the sun and the ground began to shake. Horoboros then finally appeared and began to wreak havoc. Captain Shouta Hebikura then ordered Yoko Nakashima to head out to King Joe STORAGE Custom, Yuka to analyze the monster and for Haruki to buy some time for the residents to evacuate the city. Haruki fired at Horoboros, only for the monster to dodge the attack with ease. Yuka, reading the legend on her STORAGE tablet, read that "the murmur of the tide" would lead Horoboros back to sleep. She assumed that the legend was referring to the sounds of the ocean and with a speaker, played the said sounds.

Horoboros stopped and stared at Yuka as if the monster recognized her. However, Horoboros continued its destruction by sending its Gicante Thunder attack across the city. Confused because the sound of the ocean tides did not sooth Horoboros, Yuka began to doubt herself. Haruki saw Yuka's depression and told her that it must be something only she could do. Haruki then went off to transform into Ultraman Z Beta Smash, who then slammed the monster onto a building. While Z and Horoboros battled, Yuka tried to crack the secret of the legend, only for Ultraman Z to get knocked down in front of her, causing her to fall. Once she looked up, she saw the conch shell, she realized that the legend was referring to the shell's ocean sound.

Horoboros then fired its Gicante Thunder attack towards Z, who then transformed into Gamma Future to deflect the attack with his Energy Cape and tried to hit Horoboros with the cape. Horoboros dodged by leaping up in the air and fell towards Z, who then created a Z Aias barrier to protect himself from the monster's claw strikes. Meanwhile, Yuka connected the conch to her speaker. Horoboros then broke through Z's barrier, landed on top of Z and bit the Ultra's arm. However, before the monster could harm Z any further, they heard the sound of the conch shell that Yuka was playing. Horoboros then calmed down and the monster turned away to return to its slumber.

Metsuboros[]

Suddenly, Shinya Kaburagi, who was still angry that his Belial medal was taken from him, demanded it back and tossed his Galactron MK-II and Gillvalis medals at Horoboros. They merged with the monster, transforming Horoboros into a cyborg hybrid called Metsuboros (メツボロス,   Metsuborosu).

Ultraman Z Delta Rise Claw vs. Metsuboros

Metsuboros against Z in Ultraman Z

With Galactron MK-II's face and Gillvalis' hands, Metsuboros leaped onto the side of a building, burrowed through multiple buildings and lashed out at Z. The monster then fired a Charged Particle Cannon at Z, sending off a large explosion which caused the Ultra's color timer to start blinking. Before the monster could do anymore harm to Z, Yoko arrived with King Joe STORAGE Custom, slamming Metsuboros and fired the mecha's Pedanium Guided Missiles at the monster while holding on to it. Yoko then attempted to fire a second wave of missiles, however, Metsuboros fired its Charged Particle Cannon at both the missiles and King Joe STORAGE Custom which caused the mecha to fall backwards. While Z then fought Mutsuboros, Yuka could see that the monster was in pain due to its transformation. She tried to use the sound of the conch shell once more, but to no avail. Yuka could not stand to see the monster suffer any longer and pleaded for Z to end Metsuboros' pain. Z then transformed into Ultraman Z Delta Rise Claw and used the Beliarok to deflect the monster's Charged Particle Cannon. The Ultra then used the Beliarok's Deathcium Slash attack to drill into Metsuboros, causing the monster to explode, blowing Shinya Kaburagi away with it. The only remains were Galactron MK-II's face and Gillvalis' hands as the spirit of Horoboros flew away.

Beliarok[]

Immediately after Metsuboros' death, an Alien Barossa flew down to Earth to have his revenge on Ultraman Z for killing his brother a while back. Upon landing, he discovered the Galactron MK-II face and Gillvalis' claws and took them for his own usage against Z.
